The best tool to check backlinks often depends on your specific needs, such as budget, feature requirements, and level of detail. Here are some of the top backlink checking tools:
1. Ahrefs
Pros: One of the most comprehensive backlink analysis tools, offering extensive data on referring domains, anchor text, link types, and historical backlink data.
Cons: Higher pricing compared to other options.
Best For: In-depth backlink analysis and competitive research.
2. SEMrush
Pros: Provides a solid backlink analysis alongside other powerful SEO and marketing features. The tool allows for checking toxic links and conducting a backlink audit.
Cons: While versatile, it can be more expensive and may have a steeper learning curve.
Best For: All-in-one marketing and SEO analysis.
3. Moz Link Explorer
Pros: Offers detailed insights into domain authority, anchor text, and linking domains. Useful for quick backlink checks and domain comparisons.
Cons: The link index might not be as extensive as Ahrefs or SEMrush.
Best For: Budget-friendly option for basic backlink insights.
4. Majestic
Pros: Known for its vast index and unique metrics like Trust Flow and Citation Flow. Good for analyzing the quality of backlinks.
Cons: The interface may seem outdated, and it can be more technical than other tools.
Best For: Users focused on link quality and trust metrics.
5. Ubersuggest
Pros: Provides decent backlink data at a lower cost. Easy to use, making it great for beginners.
Cons: May not be as detailed or up-to-date as the premium tools.
Best For: Smaller businesses or individuals looking for cost-effective solutions.
6. Google Search Console
Pros: Free tool that provides a basic overview of backlinks to your site. It’s a reliable source directly from Google.
Cons: Lacks the depth and competitive insights of paid tools.
Best For: Basic, no-cost backlink monitoring.
For professional-level analysis with a rich dataset, Ahrefs and SEMrush are top recommendations. If you're looking for a cost-effective alternative, Ubersuggest or Moz Link Explorer can be good choices.
So all that u need is to know what is your budget and how deep is your knowledge

One of the best tools to check backlinks is Ahrefs. It provides detailed insights into backlinks, anchor text, referring domains, and domain authority, making it a top choice for SEO professionals. Other popular options include SEMrush and Moz Link Explorer, both of which offer comprehensive backlink analysis, including link quality, source authority, and historical data. Each of these tools has strengths, so the choice depends on your specific needs and budget.
There are several great tools for checking backlinks, but my personal favorite is Ahrefs because of its comprehensive database and user-friendly interface. If you're looking for something more budget-friendly, SEMrush is also a solid option with robust features. Ultimately, the best tool for you depends on your specific needs and budget.

SEMRUSH-Best backlink checker tool overall. The entry-level plan is higher than others but it offers a lot for the money & usage limits are very generous. The swiss army knife of SEO tools. Add-ons available which include a traffic analytics tool comparable to SimilarWeb.
SE-RANKING– Some people still believe this tool is just rank tracking software but it’s so much more. It’s a complete SEO toolkit with one of the largest backlink indexes around. It’s also an affordable option for agencies and freelancers thanks to the way they price projects & user accounts. And their report builder is fantastic. For some of my searches, they found more referring domains than any other tool. It’s worth noting that their keyword database is huge as well.
Ahrefs – Their link database is huge and they have a fantastic UI but the tool is let down by technical issues and dubious pricing tactics. Their new pricing structure offers far less value than any other tool on this list and they charge overages automatically.
SEO SpyGlass by SEO PowerSuite – This downloadable SEO software provides access to Webmeup’s backlink index. The backlink index is one of the largest I’ve found so far. What stands out is the price. There’s a free version that will be enough for some users. Or you can opt for the paid version to increase those limits and unlock extra features.
Moz Pro– As one of the old guard, I used Moz a lot in my SEO agency days. Back then, the link index was quite small but they now have one of the largest databases. And the tool is extremely stable.
Serpstat – This tool has made a significant amount of progress in a short time. Their link index is smaller than others on this list but they have data visualizations other tools don’t have. This is definitely one to watch. They’re one of the best all-in-one SEO tools I’ve tested, particularly in terms of their balance of features and affordability.
Majestic – One of the only dedicated backlink checker tools on the market. They’ve stayed true to their core purpose and they have two significant link indexes (fresh + historic), as well as proprietary metrics. However, their interface is quite dated and link database is smaller than the likes of Semrush, and Moz.
Ubersuggest – One of the newer SEO tools on this list, the link index is surprisingly good but I suspect that it’s powered by Moz’s API since a lot of sites I checked delivered identical numbers of links & referring domains. There’s a lot to like about this tool but backlink filtering is a lot weaker than other tools. And there’s no way to hide Neil Patel’s face from some parts of the tool.
