Before signing up with any VPS provider, I would recommend you to have a check on your requirements.

    1. Assess the resource quantity you require:

Obviously, your website is going to take up the server resources. This is why you need to assess the number of resources your website will need to function smoothly. In that, hard disk space, CPU, RAM memory are the top most resources that need to be prioritized. When you have a bigger website, then obviously it needs huge resources.

    2. Choose your Operating System:

Though there exist a few choices of operating systems, Linux and Windows OS are the most commonly used ones.

Linux - Open source and cheaper than Windows

Windows - Preferred for .Net and apps that are designed to run on the Windows platform.

    3. Managed VPS or Unmanaged VPS:

Unmanaged VPS: When you have good technical skills to cope with the backend server operations such as updates, patches, and security, you can go for Unmanaged VPS and save your money.

Managed VPS: When you don't have technical skills or not willing to take up the burden of managing server operations, then it is better to go with managed VPS.

    4. Customer support

Make sure you choose a responsive hosting provider who will fix up the server issues which is beyond your control. Especially, the provider must be available to support your website on the downtime and security threat situations.
