The stated purpose of the Google Panda algorithm update was to reward high-quality websites and diminish the presence of low-quality websites in Google's organic search engine results. Google's Panda Update is a search filter introduced in February 2011 meant to stop sites with poor quality content from working their way into Google's top search results. Panda is updated from time-to-time. When this happens, sites previously hit may escape, if they've made the right changes.
It is basically a search engine filter to weed out low quality content sites from Google listing. Latest version has added more stringent filters and has affected 7% of the English based sites in US alone. However it should keep the site builders on toes now.
